Adolescents
Some people think that adolescence is a mental disorder. However, as already noted it’s a great age in which to be a parent of. Yet problems can arise in the best of homes in spite of parents’ best efforts.
Depending on the circumstances I often like to have parents and sometimes other family members as part of the counseling process. However, teens often will want to have some sessions independent of others and so I will typically use a combination of family and individual counseling. The decision of which works best is decided on a case-by-case basis.
I have experience with adolescents and families where the primary symptoms include: depression, anxiety, anger, conflictual family relationships, coping with divorce and oppositional behaviors
